Five years ago, Arcalux™ was born of the recognized need for a new kind of fluorescent lighting fixture. The technology for housing fluorescent lighting in place today has been virtually unchanged since the 1940’s, despite numerous changes in lamps and ballasts. The Company’s founder, Mark Welker, began with the assumption that any technology that had not changed in sixty years was ripe for improvement. After a number of years of working in the industry and consulting with industry experts, he built a modular, energy efficient, recessed fluorescent lighting fixture, SmartFixture™, to address the unmet needs of architects, engineers, building owners, facility managers, maintenance personnel and end users. Soon thereafter, the Company filed patent applications in the U.S. and 123 foreign countries worldwide covering multiple facets of the new product.
