  • The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) legislation has funding grants available to make government facilities more energy efficient. These grants would be distributed to state, county, and city governments to perform energy efficiency retrofits. The governments could provide energy audits to homes and commercial buildings. Funds could be used to install small scale renewable generation, including solar, wind, fuel cells, and biomass, at government buildings. Entities may also retrofit traffic signals and street lighting with LEDs or another highly efficient technology.
